About
UPDATE: All 3 challenges issued by Kristine Dillon ’73, Joyce Mullenbach ’77 & Julie Henderson ’11 and Bonnie MacEwan ’72 & Amy Pulver ’72 have been successfully met, thank you!
During the fall of 2018, the Thalian Society alumnae partnered with Whittier College and embarked on a 5-year journey to create the Thalian Society Endowed Scholarship. A fundraising timeline was established to reach the required minimum of $50,000 by fall of 2023. During that year’s homecoming brunch in the Memorial Chapel, devoted Thalian alumnae mobilized and immediately raised more than $7,000 as an inspiring starting point for the endowment. What an impressive outpouring of support!
Today, we are thrilled to announce that over the past two and a half years, more than 240 donors have collectively raised $52,454, meeting the $50,000 endowment goal! Congratulations, Thalians!
This new endowed scholarship will be extremely beneficial to future Thalian actives. There are two main benefits of establishing an endowed scholarship:
- Permanence. As an endowment, scholarship awards can be made forever.
- Growth. As the fund grows from additional gifts and investment returns, the scholarship awards can grow too, benefiting more actives.
