Student Health Services

This campaign concluded on

During the current Shelter-at-Home orders, the Center is open during the week only with essential personnel on site. Visitors are asked to call the Center as opposed to walking in.

Looking into the unknown future with respect to physical distancing guidelines and how college campuses will need to adapt, the Center would like to provide home health kits for residential students and also offer an upgraded and modernized telehealth option, so that students can get health advice remotely and in compliance with HIPAA rules.

All donations will enhance the essential services offered by the Center which during the last academic year aided more than 1,700 students in need, with high peaks of nearly 300 students per month. Other mounting expenses include but are not limited to: personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks, gloves, sanitizer, medical scrubs and footwear for staff, and other protective materials needed now and going forward to keep the students, staff, and our campus community safe and healthy.

The Center’s 5-person team is equipped to diagnose and treat the majority of illnesses students may experience during their time at Whittier and provides a number of primary care services, including free nutrition counseling. Students are seen by 2 nurse practitioners with one Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) that provides assistance to the providers.
