The Carey Halio ’95 Match for the MacKenzie Scott 2020 Fund
Author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott made a transformative $12 million gift in December 2020 to support Whittier’s mission of equity and inclusion for student success.
Ms. Scott’s unrestricted donation will be apportioned to the areas that will make the greatest impact at Whittier, including additional need-based scholarships, new innovative programs, and supporting the College’s Racial Justice and Equity Action Plan.
To raise $40,000 for the Scott 2020 Fund, Whittier College trustee Carey Halio ‘95 has generously committed a total of $20,000 to match gifts – dollar for dollar – from fellow trustees made during the Big Poet Give.
