About

ORTIZ FELLOW SPOTLIGHT: Learn about senior Marianella Perez, an Ortiz Fellow who researched how to help undocumented students.

The Alianza de los Amigos Martin Ortiz Fellowship is a continuation of the work “El Jefe” did with LatinX students and their families. Your support will allow Ortiz Fellows to take on opportunities that might be otherwise inaccessible due to financial concerns and obligations. Fellowships add marketable work skills and practical experience to students’ classroom knowledge.

The fellowship provides an opportunity for a first-year, sophomore, or junior to complete an internship or research project related to economic development and the general improvement of the human condition. The fellowship is particularly directed at students of Hispanic heritage from any major who have a firm interest in public service and who will do an internship or field research project in the U.S. or abroad.
